A
graduate of Columbia University, Michael
Whaley first studied 18th century design
while living in France, where he developed
a strong foundation in the luxurious design
that is his signature. Before founding his
own firm in 1987, Michael worked at Parish-Hadley
Associates, a defining experience that not
only informed his vision and capacity for
large, complex projects, but also exposed
him to some of the finest homes and apartments
in the United States.
Since
then, Michael has been a prolific designer.
His fluency with custom furnishings and
antiques has made him the choice of homeowners
from Chicago to the Caribbean, with many
loyal and repeat clients from Manhattan
and Fairfield Country using his talents
for second homes in the Hamptons, Florida,
and out West. His projects reflect the kind
of original design produced by the icons
who inspire him: Renzo Mongiardino and Madeleine
Castaing.
